Peter has more than 35 years’ experience in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, working with all age groups. He actively promotes living a healthy lifestyle. He lives and works in the Wollongong area.

These services can include pre-surgery assessment, lifestyle advice, educating you about the process, and rehabilitation after the surgery.


General Physiotherapy
Peter provides general musculoskeletal physiotherapy services.
He has expertise in managing all types of soft tissue injuries; helping with spinal injuries, low back pain, and neurological rehabilitation.
Treatment may involve exercise therapy, manual therapy, pain management, rehabilitation, and education and advice.
Peter provides these services at clinics in both Wollongong and Thirroul, or he can attend your sporting event or visit you in your home.


Sports injuries
Peter treats all types of sports injuries, both in his clinics and at sporting events.
He has a special interest in helping people in these areas: cycling, mountain biking, snow skiing, rugby league, motor racing and dancing.
Peter has worked with the Thirroul Rugby League Club for over 30 years.


Dancers
Peter’s services for dancers include treating dance injuries and conducting pre-pointe assessments for younger ballet dancers.
Gym programs
Work with Peter to help you improve your fitness and strength with a gym program to lose weight, strength training and increase your VO2 max.


About Peter
For over 30 years, physiotherapist Peter McIntyre has focused on personalised care, correct diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal, neurological, and sports injuries. Through decades of service to the local community, he has gained extensive experience in diagnosing and treating sports injuries, as well as supporting people to achieve functional health and movement for everyday life.
education
Peter graduated from Sydney University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy. After beginning his career with NSW Health in the public hospital system, he moved into private practice in Thirroul in 1993. He has completed various post-graduate courses with Sports Medicine Australia, the Australian Physiotherapy Association and the University of Florida, among others.
Mens health
Seeing the need to support men facing prostate cancer, Peter completed mens’ health qualifications in 2014 at the University of Newcastle. This includes assessment and treatment pre- and post-prostate surgery. Peter has been using real-time ultrasound to assist these patients recover from pelvic floor dysfunction and urinary incontinence.
Interests
His professional sports interests include rugby league, soccer, cycling, motorcycle racing, snow skiing and boarding, surfing, and ballet. Peter is a life member of the Thirroul Butchers Rugby League Football Club where he maintains his NRL Level 2 Sports Trainer certifications providing on field and pre-game support for players.
